Build a Website That Grows With You: The Power of Bepsoke Flexible Content

Let's talk about our bespoke flexible content.

You’ve got a shiny new website and everything looks great, then six months down the line, you want to add a new page section, maybe a carousel, FAQs, a gallery and suddenly you’re ringing the agency, waiting on a developer, and wondering why it has to be so bloody complicated.

It doesn’t have to be, that’s where our bespoke flexible content blocks come in.

What is Flexible Content?

We extend upon the core WordPress functionality to build a library of reusable page sections (or “flexible blocks”) that you can add, rearrange, and remove without touching a single line of code. You don’t have to worry about font style, colours, as everything is built up-front and on brand.

Think of it like building with LEGO. We create the bricks, each one a carefully designed, fully styled section of a webpage and all you have to do is select which bricks you want and stack them in whatever order makes sense.

What does it look like in practice?

Here’s a real-world example from one of our builds. We’ve worked hard over the years to refine the WordPress admin to show a neat interface where the content manager can add sections from a defined list, things like:

  • Intro Title Block: a clean hero-style heading with supporting text
  • Locations Carousel: a scrollable carousel of location cards
  • Scroll Slider: a full-screen scrolling image or content slider
  • Skew Gallery: a stylised image gallery with angular layouts
  • Accordion: expandable Q&A or content sections
  • Social Stories Carousel: pulling in social content in a Stories-style format
  • Locations Ticker: a scrolling ticker of location names or messages

Each layout has its own set of fields; text, images, toggles, links, all clearly labelled and easy to fill in. This will cover most sections you will need, but if you do ever find you need something different in the future, we can develop another block for you to slot in where you need it, without the need to completely redevelop the whole page template.

Why it matters for your business

It’s a game-changer for a few reasons:

You’re not locked in. As your business evolves, you can add new sections to your pages without a full redesign or a hefty development invoice every time.

Consistency by design. Because all the layouts are pre-built by the developer, they’re always on-brand, always responsive, and always work properly across devices. You can’t accidentally break the design.

Structure without rigidity. Unlike rigid page templates where every page looks the same, Flexible Content lets each page have its own personality while still staying cohesive.

Content editors feel confident. We’ve seen clients who’ve never touched a CMS before get to grips with our Flexible Content in minutes. We’ve customised and improved the admin interface over the years so it’s intuitive, the labels are clear, and the guesswork is gone.

How we use it at Our Agency

We work closely with clients during the design phase to identify the kinds of sections they’ll need, not just now, but as their site grows. Then we build those layouts properly: clean code, solid structure, and with SEO in mind.

Reyt Good Questions

Not at all and that's the whole point of it. Once your developer has set up the layouts, you manage everything through a straightforward admin interface in WordPress; adding sections, filling in text and images, and rearranging things as you like. You can also spin up new campaign driven landing pages using the blocks.

Yes that's one of the biggest advantages, Flexible Content is built to be extended. If you want a new section type adding to your site down the line, we can create a new layout and add it to the list. You don't need to rebuild the whole page template to evolve your content.

It works particularly well for sites that need varied, content-rich pages such as service businesses, student accommodation providers, retail brands, and hospitality companies. If your pages all look exactly the same, you might not need it but if you want the flexibility to make each page unique while keeping your design consistent, it's a brilliant solution.

Great question. Page builders like Elementor or WP Bakery give the editor a lot of freedom – sometimes too much. It's easy to end up with inconsistent designs, broken layouts, or pages that slow down your site. Our bespoke Flexible Content keeps the design control with the developer while still giving content editors genuine flexibility. The result is a more robust, faster, and consistently branded website. The codebase is also much leaner which improves website performance and streamlines the admin controls.

Yes! Page builders like Elementor add a significant amount of extra code to every page, whether you're using all of it or not. Scripts, styles, and library files all get loaded regardless, which adds weight and slows things down. A bespoke build using Flexible Content only loads what's actually needed for that page, keeping things lean and fast.

That matters for SEO because Google uses page speed as a ranking signal, particularly through its Core Web Vitals metrics. A faster site means better scores, which can translate directly into improved search rankings. It also means a better experience for your visitors, and lower bounce rates tend to help with SEO too. So a clean, custom build isn't just a technical nicety, it's a genuine competitive advantage.
